    James Wesley Lee had an unusual day Tuesday, complete with a greeting by U.S. Marshals, handcuffs and a trip to jail.

    Lee is facing charges in Wilmington of statutory rape and taking indecent liberties with a child which could earn him a spot on the N.C. Sex Offender registry for allegations he sexually assaulted a girl 20 years his junior.

    Lee eluded authorities for more than four months. But his time on the lam ended Tuesday when marshals surprised the 35-year-old as he pulled into the parking lot of his job at a restaurant in coastal Mississippi, nearly 700 miles from eastern North Carolina, authorities said.

    On Tuesday, an Illinois mother was charged with a misdemeanor charge of endangering the life and health of a child and two felony counts of unlawful possession of a controlled substance.

    Nicole Edwards, 31, from Cottage Hills, Illinois, was charged with after two separate investigations were performed by the Madison County Sheriff’s Office.

    The first incident resulted in the aquisition of a substance suspected to be heroin from Edwards’ 11-year-old daughter on January 4, 2012.  The daughter reportedly found the capsules containing residual amounts of the substance on a dresser in their home.

    MOBILE, Ala. (WALA) – Mobile police believe Bobby Grimes, 17, is a suspect in the carjacking of a 1995 Toyota Corolla from Parklane Apartments, located off Zeigler Blvd.

    Officers said the victim was home when the suspect stole her car from the parking lot, two days before Christmas.

    Milwaukee police are investigating the shooting death of a 19-year-old man Monday afternoon and another unrelated shooting a few hours later that was not considered life-threatening.

    The 19-year-old man who died was shot twice in the 8800 block of N. 95th St, and died while being transported to a local hospital, according to a news release.

    Police also are investigating a 7:15pm shooting Monday in the 4700 block of N.

    The chief executive officer of a Leland-based corporation that owned and operated a chain of assisted-living facilities in North and South Carolina pleaded guilty on Tuesday to conspiring to commit tax fraud, acknowledging that he tried to bilk the federal government out of millions of dollars in revenue over a three-year period, officials said.

    Ronald E. Burrell, CEO of Caremerica Adult Care Inc., which among its many locations counted an assisted-living facility in Wilmington, admitted to lying on tax forms to avoid paying some $4.5 million in federal employment taxes, among other things, according to the U.S.
