Woman reports theft at Walmart
A woman told Springfield police she left her purse unattended for a brief moment in a shopping cart about 7 p.m. Sunday at Walmart, 200 S. Tuttle Road. When she returned, the money was missing.

Domestic violence suspect arrested
Timothy L. McMahon, 32, of 229 Stanton Ave., was arrested and charged with domestic violence after Springfield police responded to the home twice early Monday morning.
A 54-year-old female he was reportedly in an altercation with there collapsed, complaining of abdominal pain the second time police responded.

GREEN BAY – A former Allouez cemetery worker has been sentenced to a year in jail for stealing a guitar from a casket.
Steven Conard, 40, pleaded no contest to the charges in November. He took a $2,000 guitar from a crypt, saying it was too valuable to be buried. The guitar was eventually returned.
In addition, Conard was sentenced to four years probation, 240 hours of community service and he must write a letter or apology to the victim’s family.

EAST ST. LOUIS — Alorton street director Ronnie D. Cummings was in federal court Monday morning for an initial hearing and arraignment before Magistrate Judge Donald G. Wilkerson.
Cummings, wearing a charcoal gray shirt with light gray pin stripes in it and blue jeans, pleaded not guilty to two federal charges. He wore shackles around his waist, hands and ankles.
Cummings is charged with being a previously convicted felon in possession of firearm ammunition and making false statements to federal agents. He was represented by Adam Fein, an attorney with Scott Rosenblum’s law firm in St. Louis.

BELLEFONTAINE — Huntington Bank has offered a reward up to $5,000 to help catch bank robbery suspect Christopher Yaeger.
Bellefontaine Police charged Yaeger for the robbery of the Huntington Bank located at 201 E. Columbus Ave. in Bellefontaine.
The robbery occurred on Dec. 9, 2011. Anyone with information on Yaeger’s location is requested to contact the Bellefontaine Police Department at 937-599-1010.

APPLETON – An Appleton man has pleaded not guilty to charges he did not give his baby daughter enough food.
Christopher Sultze, 35, allegedly told a social worker he did not want obese children. Prosecutors say the girl had gained three pounds in 14 months.
Sultze’s trial is set to begin March 7.
Sultze’s wife Mary has also been ordered to stand trial on similar charges.

Madison and St. Clair counties tied for fifth worst on a list of “judicial hellholes” released Thursday by a business-backed interest group. But what the rankings mean depends on whom you ask.
“They are worthless pieces of paper,” St. Clair County Chief Judge John Baricevic said. “Why should I pay any attention to them?”
The counties made American Tort Reform Association’s list for the first time since 2006. The counties were named to the “watch list” last year. St. Clair has been named a hellhole four times since the list was started in 2002 and Madison County six times.

SPRINGFIELD
Two children, 8 and 11 years old, were reportedly shot in the face with a BBs about 9:30 p.m. Thursday on the 800 block of South Lowry Avenue.
The mother of the children told Springfield police a grey vehicle with a black stripe down the side was driving north on South Lowry Avenue when someone in the vehicle with several female passengers fired a BB gun at the children who were sitting on the front porch of their residence.
The children were not injured, according to the report.
THEFT
A refrigerator and an electric stove valued at $500 were taken from the back porch of a home on the 20 block of Memorial Place between 5 p.m. Tuesday and 12:20 p.m. Friday.
