COPLEY — Summit County Sheriff Drew Alexander said a Canadian man was arrested following a three-month undercover investigation involving the international trafficking of MDMA from Canada into the United States.

Early Saturday morning, officers from the Summit County Drug Unit and the Cleveland resident Office of the DEA arrested Junior Dobson 41, of Toronto, as he met with an undercover officer to receive payment for a prior drug shipment of 2,000 MDMA tablets, better known as the street drug “Ecstasy,” in the Copley area of Summit county.

During the investigation, Dobson, a Jamaican-born Canadian citizen met with undercover investigators from the Summit County Drug Unit and provided detailed information on how to go about receiving shipments of the drugs and disguising payments so as not to raise suspicion or be detected.

Dobson indicated that his trafficking scheme also reached into the New York City area. In March, Dobson successfully smuggled a drug shipment to undercover officers containing approximately 2,000 MDMA tablets with a street value of approximately $40,000.00.

Dobson was taken into custody as he met with investigators to receive payment for a portion of the shipment and to work out the details of the next shipment of drugs.

He will be charged in U.S. District Court in Akron for conspiracy to distribute MDMA as a foreign national.

The investigation was a collaboration between the Summit County Drug Unit, The Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) and the Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agency.
