A 36-year-old East Windsor resident was kidnapped from a township street Sunday night and held captive in Hightstown by an ex-boyfriend until she escaped Monday morning, police said.

EAST WINDSOR A 36-year-old East Windsor resident was kidnapped from a township street Sunday night and held captive in Hightstown by an ex-boyfriend until she escaped Monday morning, police said.

The woman freed herself when her ex-boyfriend, Herlindo Castillo-Sinai, 39, fell asleep. She reported the incident to police and they arrested Castillo-Sinai, who was allegedly using the false name of Ervin Rolando Martinez.

The woman was walking behind Target around 11:50 p.m. Sunday when Castillo-Sinai confronted her and punched her repeatedly, police said.

Castillo-Sinai threatened her with some type of blade, took her purse, and forced her into a vehicle, police said. They drove to Castillo-Sinai’s home on Oak Lane in Hightstown, where he allegedly held her until she escaped Monday morning.

The woman suffered facial injuries in the assault. Castillo-Sinai was arrested at his home around 1 p.m. Monday and charged with kidnapping, robbery and aggravated assault. He is being held in lieu of $400,000 and an immigration detainer at the Mercer County Corrections Center.
