CLEVELAND — The defense for Anthony Sowell, charged with killing 11 women, has lost a bid to delay the June 6 trial.
Cuyahoga County Common Pleas Judge Dick Ambrose ruled Tuesday against the defense request for more time to prepare for the trial of Sowell, 51.
Sowell, who sat quietly in court with his hands and ankles shackled, has pleaded not guilty.
The prosecution told the judge the defense has had enough time to prepare.
The remains of the women were found in and around Sowell’s house in 2009.
The judge sided with the defense on the issue of keeping secret its requests for money for trial experts. But the judge says he will watch future requests to make sure they qualify for secrecy.
