France says it has had contacts with envoys from Muammar Gaddafi who say the Libyan leader is ‘prepared to leave’, notes a BBC News report. ‘The Libyan regime is sending messengers everywhere, to Turkey, to New York, to Paris’ offering to discuss Gaddafi’s exit, said French Foreign Minister Alain Juppe. He added that such contacts, however, did not constitute negotiations. France played a key role in launching Nato-led strikes in Libya, under a UN-mandated mission to protect civilians. Meanwhile, Namibia’s Minister of Justice, Pendukeni Iivula-Ithana said her country will not comply with the warrants of arrest for Gaddafi and Sudanese President Omar al-Bashir, who stand accused of crimes against humanity. The New Era reports that livula-Ithana said the AU has taken the decision not to support the arrest of Gaddafi and al-Bashir. She explained that Namibia cannot act in opposition to ‘our own organisation’.
